[Look at the stars, look how they shine for you,
And everything you do, yeah they were all yellow]Heero looked at the stars through the shuttle window as he rode home after a visit in space. He had wanted to visit space for so long, to see how things were going, even though he thought he could do nothing up in the colonies, the products of earth. He wanted to go back to earth quickly, as he thought of Trowa, the piece of his heart. After the Mariemeia war, he had revealed his feelings for the Heavyarms pilot.
Heero remembered that time he went to visit Trowa at the circus, and how they spent a quiet night together, their calm loving actions proving each other of their love. They left the circus that next day, and had returned 2 months afterward, because Trowa had felt a little homesick. He would go anywhere with Heero, but now that he thought the circus as his home, there had to be times where he wanted to go back and stay and feel secure and Heero could understand that, so he would stay around and keep an eye on him. Heero had wanted Trowa to come to space with him, but Trowa said he had to stay, and that he would wait for Heero to return.
[I came along, I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do, and it was called "Yellow"]As the shuttle neared the blue and green planet, Heero thought that the earth was like him and Trowa...bonded as one. He thought of the words he wanted to tell Trowa, and the simple words he told him, like a song. As he was returning, he felt like his return to Trowa would be like another song for both of them...Heero felt that whatever he would tell his emerald-eyed lover, was like a song in the stars, warm and bright.
The shuttle had soon landed, and the once Wing pilot went out into the warm atmosphere of earth, feeling the sun on his skin, and the breeze play through his dark hair. Heero took a taxi from the airport to return to the circus. With his deep blue eyes, Heero watched the scenery pass by through the window, and smiled as the image of his heart, his love, came closer. The Japanese man paid the toll with money some kind colonists in space had given him. They could tell he was a Gundam pilot, and everyone was grateful for him being a "hero".
[So then I took my turn, oh what a thing to have done,
And it was all yellow.]The ex-Wing pilot walked onto the circus grounds, but finding barely anyone was around except for the workers. He spotted the familiar auburn haired girl, raking up some hay for the animal cages. Heero approached Catherine and lightly tapped her on the shoulder. She was startled and turned around quickly and faced the Japanese man. Heero asked her where Trowa was, but a slightly sad look overcame the expression on her face and she explained that he had a severe fever and that his body was weak. With much haste, Heero immediately went to Trowa's trailer and went inside without knocking, because he knew he had the right to enter into his trailer.
[Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful]Deep blue met emerald green depths as the Wing pilot looked longingly at the slender man lying in his bed. Trowa gazed at Heero for a while, and then a smile formed at the edges of his lips. The tall man slowly sat up in bed. Heero went to Trowa, knowing the other was too tired to get himself up. The dark haired man put an arm around Trowa to keep him propped up in bed. Trowa smiled at Heero and leaned in and kissed his love gently. After the kiss, the two men just smiled at each other for a while, again saying no words as the time they first embraced.
Trowa held onto Heero's arms as he tried to get up on his feet. Heero got up as well to help up the taller man. Trowa almost stumbled but strong arms held him securely. Heero smiled at his partner as he held Trowa close. Then Heero led Trowa out of his trailer for a walk.
[You know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so]The two Gundam pilots walked together slowly through the circus and went far into the small city. Heero kept his arm around Trowa so that he wouldn't stumble. The city was a little crowded, as many people were busy. Heero tried to steer clear away from large crowds so they wouldn't get stuck or lose Trowa with all the people. They both went to less bare streets, the more mellow part of town, where gangs, bums and homeless people would hang around. As worn down as the place seemed, it was peaceful for both Heero and Trowa to have comfort in their walk together. Heero backed Trowa against a wall and was about to kiss him when suddenly there were gunshots. A group of people was running their way, and a car was chasing after them. The group was a gang being chased by some enemies of theirs and some fell and dropped like flies. Heero grabbed Trowa by the arm and started running so they wouldn't get caught in the chase. Some of the gang members rushed passed them, not noticing, running for their lives. Heero kept his tight grip on Trowa so he wouldn't lose him with the others running past them, and he couldn't look back to see if Trowa was there because he had to keep his eyes forward for a quick way to get out of the chase.
[I swam across, I jumped across for you, Oh what a thing to do. Cos you were all yellow.]Trowa, as tired as he was, tried to keep up with Heero and heard more gunshots as Heero swerved into a narrow alleyway. Heero leaned back against the wall and after a while, all was quiet. The experienced assassin breathed a sigh of relief, when he suddenly realized that he had let go of the slender arm. Heero looked around in a slight panic for Trowa and found him kneeling in the shadows of the alleyway. The Japanese went right away to the taller man and kneeled down and hugged him as he felt he almost had lost him. He looked at Trowa and found that his face was pale. Trowa was getting weaker and Heero wondered what was wrong or if the fever was getting worse, but then Heero felt something on his hand. He looked at his hand and found that it was covered in blood. Heero suddenly realized that Trowa must have gotten shot during the chase. If only he would have looked behind him! If only he had paid attention and kept Trowa closer to him...
[I drew a line for you, oh what a thing to do.
And it was all yellow.]Heero clenched his fists and his teeth as he felt pure anger at himself for letting Trowa get hurt, for staying away from him for so long and didn't watch and take care of him. Trowa breathed slowly but looked up at Heero. The taller man reached out his hand and gently put his hand under Heero's chin and lifted his face up to look at him. Trowa leaned in to kiss Heero, but their lips barely touched as Trowa passed out on Heero's shoulder. Heero held onto Trowa tightly and held back a sob as he examined Trowa's wound. The bullet had hit under his left shoulder blade in his back, and he was losing a lot of blood. The Wing pilot picked up Trowa and walked out of the alleyway. Heero didn't want to consider the fact that...Trowa would die because of the extreme blood loss, especially with the current condition he was in now. Walking along slowly, Heero could feel the tears form in his eyes. He didn't want to lose Trowa now....
[Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful]Trowa coughed a little and opened his eyes and looked up at Heero, his beloved savior...always would be. Heero down at his sweet angel...and a tear fell from his eye and rolled down his cheek. Trowa reached up and wiped the tear away and smiled weakly at his partner holding him but Heero slightly turned his head away. Heero looked up to his right and noticed they were at the beach where Relena first found him, he remembered. Trowa looked up at Heero and he looked back and nodded and carried Trowa over to the calm beach with its slow crashing waves.
Heero walked along the shore, watching the waves form and break upon each other, in a quiet rhythm, while he still carried Trowa. Both were calm and quiet as they watched the waves. Trowa put a hand on Heero's chest, a signal telling him to put him down where they would sit on the soft white sand. Heero put Trowa down gently and he sat close to him so Trowa could rest on him. They sat and watched the sea for a while, and Trowa leaned against Heero, his breathing slowing ever so slightly. Heero looked at Trowa with worry, but he didn't want to think about anything...just to have this moment.
[And you know for you, I'd bleed myself dry for you, I'd bleed myself dry.]The sun began to set, and the sky formed pastel colors on the horizon. The water coming in on the shore lapped up against their feet. Crimson red washed away with the brine as Trowa's wound overflowed with his own blood. Heero had his head turned to the side away from Trowa, his finger drawing a pattern on the sand. Trowa rubbed Heero's back to comfort him, because he knew his time would come, and he wanted to enjoy this very last moment with the one he loved most.
Trowa squeezed on Heero's arm as he could feel the pain flushing through his body, his own life draining as it washed away with the sea. Heero looked at Trowa, tears already staining his troubled expression. Trowa gazed back at Heero, smiling, and Heero thought of all the times he smiled, that this was the most beautiful. Heero cupped Trowa's face in his hands, his eyes welling up in tears, his face filled with worry. Emerald eyes gazed back at deep blue, sadness in them, but in it, and a deep happiness that made Heero smile. "I love you...." Heero said quietly, looking back at Trowa. Trowa's smile became more beautiful, and crystal drops formed in his eyes. Heero wiped them away tenderly, and looked at the sun, which was nearly dropping below the horizon, and the stars began to show themselves in the dark mystic vastness of space. Trowa looked at the sky, and saw two stars, twinkling. The stars were not very bright, but they seemed to be the most beautiful among the crowd of sparkles.
[It's true, look how they shine for you, Look how they shine for you]Heero turned his head back at Trowa and saw a radiating glow in Trowa's eyes, and then they faded to a dim cloudiness, as death stood by his side, waiting. Immediately Heero gave Trowa the most passionate kiss they ever shared, not wanting to ever the moment end, never to let all his love, his soul...the spirit that helped him live. Trowa held onto Heero tight, never wanting to let go of this angel that gave him everything...that made him have such wonderful feelings...to give him the most wonderful times of his life. All in an instant, Heero could no longer feel the loving hold from Trowa. Trowa's arms lay limp at his side, and Heero opened his eyes and sat back a little and looked at his partner.
Trowa was pale, his eyes were closed, but his lips still had a hint of that wondrous smile. He still had his beauty, his grace...the loving soul, gracious spirit. Heero hugged Trowa's body tight, crying as if there was no tomorrow. Tears blurring his vision, Heero looked up at the stars, the two radiant starts still gleaming with all their beauty.
[Look how they shine for, look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you, look how they shine.]Death still stood by, still waiting, but he wasn't waiting just for Trowa, he knew something else that had to be done. Heero had poured all his heart and soul into his sorrow for Trowa, and it was done. He picked up Trowa's limp body and walked into the sea, the water rushing around his legs. He fell on his knees in the water, and kissed Trowa's chest. Heero began to swim out further, still holding onto Trowa. Once he reached a certain length away from the shore, Heero stopped and held onto Trowa. He kissed the pale lips one last time. Whispering to him, that they were like the earth, bonded by nature, and that they would have space, to watch the earth, to be among the colonies they fought for...that the stars would shine for them.
With a last breath, Heero sank with Trowa's body into the murky depths, looking one last time up at the stars...the same two stars. Heero didn't care about when he'd run out of air, of when his lungs would crave for air, when they finally burst and he would give up his life and join with Trowa. He didn't care about living on, living a life without Trowa, the one he loved, would be like living a dead spirit anyway.
Heero had sudden memories, of his times with Trowa, the moments they shared, all they did, how they first met and came together and told each other their feelings, and how life would have been. Death still stood on the shore, but he wouldn't have to find them, they would find their own path to each other in the stars.
The stars...they shine for you...
[Look at the stars, look how they shine for you,
And all the things you do.]
