It is quite scary to read some of the 1x3/3x1 oriented fanfic out there; the way in which some people write, or rather bastardize, the characters of Heero Yuy and Trowa Barton, and furthermore, the interaction of these two characters. Let's be honest, both boys are quiet and straightforward; they are perhaps the two most 'dangerous' pilots in the series,[1] but neither of them seem neurotic nor violent. Heero is quiet, organized and focused on his mission. Trowa is pragmatic, logic, and as focused on his mission as Heero. They both do what needs to be done, eliminating any obstacles that might interfere with their missions.
Trowa hits Duo once in the series, in order to make sure that Duo doesn't blow his Oz cover. Heero hits Duo in Endless Waltz, but only after making sure that Duo strikes him so that it will be a "fair game"; again, this is done in order to protect the mission objective. However, neither of these examples is enough evidence to support that Heero or Trowa are violent individuals. They do not go around randomly beating up on people, much less on each other.
There seems to be a trend for non-consensual fics when it comes to this pairing. It's either evil-bastard-sadistic-Heero raping weepy-victimized-Trowa or Neurotic-obsessed-psychotic-Trowa stalking, raping, and torturing wimpy-Heero. Both settings are unlikely and utterly disturbing, that is, if the fanfic writer has even bothered watching the series.
I believe Trowa and Heero would be quite passionate as lovers, an explosive combination, if you will, but acts of violent sex and torture as portrayed in most 1x3/3x1 fics is something I cannot, and will probably never comprehend. Even if Heero decided, for some unknown reason, to beat up on Trowa and to (God forbid!) try to rape him, it's ridiculous to think that Trowa would allow that kind of behavior towards him. The same goes for Trowa trying to rape Heero. It is feasible to say that in such a situation, neither boy would survive the bodily harm that they could inflict on each other in a pure act of self-defense.
People who have watched the series have probably noticed that Heero and Trowa have a deep connection with one another. Whether one sees them as lovers, friends or simply as fellow Gundam pilots, the deep respect and mutual admiration these two characters share should not be overlooked.
