Xander woke to a gentle nibbling of his right ear.
"Wake up, sweetheart."
He didn't open his eyes, but turned his head so that Giles could
kiss his mouth.
The watcher did so happily, and soon they were thoroughly engaged in
their daily morning routine: kissing until Xander finally opened his
eyes.
"Good morning my sweetheart."
"Morning Giles."
Just because his eyes were open didn't necessarily mean that Xander
was really awake.
"Don't you want to get up?"
"No. It's my birthday. I want to spend all day in bed - with you."
He kissed Giles again and ran one hand through his hair.
He couldn't get enough of him.
His desire and love for Giles was as strong as on the day they first
made love; perhaps even stronger.
"We really should get up."
"I won't leave this bed today."
Giles propped himself on his arms.
"You want to spend you 20th birthday sleeping through the day?"
"Who said something about sleeping?"
He dragged Giles into another kiss, and this time he clearly had
more in mind.
They rolled around until Xander lay on Giles.
He started to kiss down Giles' throat, while his hands moved along
his body.
"Xander, darling, aren't you hungry?"
The young man stopped and looked at Giles.
"You mean food?"
Giles nodded.
Xander had a short debate with himself. They had gone to bed early.
Not to sleep, but to start celebrating until Giles congratulated him
at midnight.
Actually, it was a little after midnight because they had been too
occupied with each other at the top of the hour.
He hadn't eaten for over 12 hours, so food was a must.
Still he was resolved to stay in bed.
"Will you get me something to eat?"
"Why don't you come downstairs with me and eat something, and then
we can get back to bed?"
"Why don't you just go downstairs get something out of the fridge
and bring it upstairs?"
"Xander, please."
"This is my birthday, remember?"
"Yes, but..."
"But what?"
Xander looked down at him with his big brown eyes, so Giles just
flung his arms around him and got up.
"Giles!"
He wrapped his legs around Giles in order to not fall down.
"What are you doing? Stop!"
Giles walked a step with the struggling heap of Xander in his arms.
"I can't believe you're doing this to me on my birthday!"
Giles decided that the best way to stop his young lover was to kiss
him and so he did until he stood halfway down the stairs.
Xander had stopped struggling and was now kissing Giles fervently.
When their tongues started a gentle duel and when Giles felt
Xander's left hand creep from his shoulder further down and to his
front he knew that he had to do something to make him aware of his
surroundings.
He stopped the kiss and carefully dropped Xander to the ground.
But Xander didn't turn his gaze from Giles and instead ran his hands
through his chest hair and then downwards.
Giles grabbed his hands and stopped their progress.
"Close your eyes."
Xander complied.
"And now turn around."
He did.
Giles stepped forward and put his arms around him.
Then he kissed his cheek and whispered into his ear.
"Happy birthday, my sweetheart."
"Can I open my eyes now?"
Giles smiled and kissed him again.
"Yes you can, love."
When Xander opened his eyes he saw that the living-room was covered
with... well, chocolatey goodness.
Bars of chocolate, brownies, chocolate-coated cookies as well as
chocolate cookies with chocolate chips.
And on the table stood a big heart-shaped chocolate cake.
Someone had written on it.
G. loves X.
"I would have written 'Giles loves Xander', but we sort of ran out
o-"
Xander whirled around and kissed Giles' whole face.
"This is the best birthday I ever had. God. How do I deserve this?"
"You don't. But I give it to you because I love you more than
anything in the world."
"I love you, too, Rupert."
They kissed again, gently and for a very long time.
When they stopped, Xander looked at his gift again.
"How did you manage?"
"Do you remember when I told you that Buffy and I had to fight a
demon yesterday?"
"Of course."
"Well, we weren't fighting a demon. Only Joyce to let us destroy her
kitchen. By the way, she wishes you a happy birthday, too."
"But how did you... I mean we went to bed together and then you
dropped to sleep from exhaustion."
He grinned at him.
"But I was as always the first to wake up."
"Don't tell you me you did this this morning. I know you didn't. I
always wake up when you leave the bed."
Giles looked seriously at Xander.
He still was surprised how every little sign of Xander's love
affected him.
"No, I didn't do it. Buffy came by after patrol and set it all up.
By the way she wanted to come over later and see if you left anything
for her."
"I don't think so."
"Xander."
"Let's make a deal. I leave something for Buffy and you call her and
tell her she should wait with her visit until tomorrow."
Giles smiled.
"Agreed."
Xander took a step down.
"Hhmmm. Where do I start?"
"How about here?"
When he turned around to Giles again, the watcher had placed a small
piece of chocolate on his tongue.
Xander didn't need to think twice to take that invitation.
He was so eager in fact that they ended up sitting on the steps,
kissing, licking, nibbling, touching until Xander let Giles take a
couple of breaths.
"So, Giles, now that you showed me your gift, do you really want me
to eat first or shall we go to bed again?"
"I think I have some more chocolate in the nightstand."
They were up the stairs and in their bed in a matter of seconds, a
kissing heap of two lovely bodies.
Then Giles rolled them over and reached into the drawer producing a
handful of chocolate pieces.
"I'm afraid they melted a little."
"Not bad at all. I can think of a few things we could do with
melting chocolate."
"That's good because I have two bottles of chocolate syrup
downstairs..."
